US AIRCRAFT CARRIER (USS ENTERPRISE) MAKES FINAL DEPLOYMENT

USS Enterprise as depicted in the movie-USS ENTERPRISE STAR TREK:"Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Her ongoing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life-forms and new civilizations; to boldly go where no one has gone before".

First, the Commander, Capt. Owen Honors was relieved of his command of the USS Enterprise as commanding officer of USS Enterprise (CVN 65:see map), “…for demonstrating poor judgment while serving as executive officer of that ship…”and replaced with Capt. Dee Mewbourne (Mewbourne most recently commanded USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69:see map), where he completed two successful combat deployments supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.Currently serving as the chief of staff for Navy Cyber Forces).

The Naval Update Map showing approximation of the current locations of U.S. Carrier Strike Groups (CSGs) and Amphibious Ready Groups (ARGs), the keys to U.S. dominance of the world’s oceans. A CSG is centered on an aircraft carrier, which projects U.S. naval and air power and supports a carrier air wing (CVW).

(A)nd now the ship itself like the Titanic is to be ‘relieved ‘into history as an artifact in world museum.
According to Associated Press, the USS Enterprise has set sail on its final voyage.

According to news report, officials say the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, which was featured in the film "Top Gun," left Norfolk, Virginia, around noon on Sunday,Mar 11,2012.

The ship with more than 4,000 crew members has been a part of history over the past 50 years. It was involved in several wars and played a prominent role in the Cuban missile crisis. It also served as a spotter ship for John Glenn's historic orbit of Earth.

July 7, 2004.Somewhere on the Atlantic Ocean. An SH-60F Seahawk assigned to the "Dragon Slayers" of Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron One One (HS-11) hovers over the flight deck of the nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise.

The Enterprise is the longest aircraft carrier in the U.S. fleet. It is also the oldest.

The ship is both old and one-of-a-kind, meaning maintenance can be tricky. Crew members acknowledge life at sea can be tough because they often have to build spare parts from scratch.

I cant but say on a very final note:Adieu unto USS Enterprise, RIP.

was assigned to her as part of the EOD team in 1973 while she was in the pacific supporting the war effort in Vietnam. Since my rate was AO i also volunteered to assist the flight crews in loading the armament on the planes. A-6/A-4/ and F-4 s.. Even ran in to a high school buddy who was flying A-6 s. i was disarming bombs he was dropping them lol. Only had to disarm 1 bomb that broke loose from the rack when landing. He tried to drop his load before landing but had a malfunction.. Was it armed YES but it was pretty easy to put it back in the safe position. i did have an audience lmao but i knew the ordnance and the fuze so disarmed it and the crew brought a car and hauled it away then the planes could land again . we hurried and only took a few minutes so had minimum wave offs.
